Welcome to The Aligned Self. I’m Annamarie, and I’m honoured to share a bit about myself and the journey that has shaped my approach to therapy and healing.
For much of my life, I felt different, disconnected, and unsure of my place in the world. As a result, I’ve explored many modalities to support my growth and transformation and I now hope to share some of what I have learnt to support others on their journeys.
It was only through years of self-discovery that I began to understand and embrace the uniqueness of my experiences and to feel at home in the world.
This journey has taught me that healing is not a linear process and that each person’s path to wholeness is as unique as they are.
Therapy has been an important tool for me, providing me with the space to explore my emotions and challenges.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling and as a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), I am committed to providing a safe and supportive space for exploration and growth.

My therapeutic approach is deeply informed by my belief in the transpersonal—the spiritual and transcendental aspects of life that guide and nourish us.
Spiritual Focused Therapy
As a spiritually focused therapist I blend traditional therapeutic practices with a transpersonal perspective. This means I work with clients not only on emotional and psychological challenges but also on connecting with the deeper, spiritual aspects of their lives.
Transpersonal therapy recognizes that beyond our individual experiences lies a greater connection to the whole—to others, to nature, and to the higher aspects of our own being. It acknowledges the importance of meaning, purpose, and self-realisation in the process of healing and growth.
My varied personal and professional background has led me to explore many paths which influence my work. Nature has always been a profound source of healing and inspiration in my life. From a therapeutic perspective, nature offers a space for grounding, reflection, and connection. It can help us step away from the distractions of daily life and foster a sense of peace and clarity.
My deep connection with horses has been particularly meaningful, teaching me about presence, resilience, and the power of non-verbal communication.

I have worked with horses for many years and witnessed the unique ways they can support emotional growth and self-awareness. Equine-facilitated therapy integrates these powerful experiences, providing an opportunity to reconnect with nature and oneself in a deeply transformative way.
In addition to my work as a therapist, I have a background in nursing. I spent a number of years working in palliative care within the NHS. I have had the privilege of supporting individuals through life’s most profound transitions.
Self-Acceptance, Growth & Fulfilment

This has broadened my understanding of the importance of caring for the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. I believe that true healing occurs when we tend to all aspects of our being, allowing ourselves to heal in a holistic, integrated way.
